Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers will look to avenge their early exit in last season’s playoffs when they take on the Toronto Raptors in the first round starting on Saturday.
The Cavaliers, despite being the top seed, were ousted by the Indiana Pacers in five games in the second round in 2025. It left Mitchell distraught as he sat on the bench at Rocket Arena an hour after the game was over.
Now, he has another chance to go on a deep run.
But before facing the Raptors, the 29-year-old Mitchell had to share his profound observation of Cleveland, channeling his inner meteorologist.
“I love Cleveland, man, LOL. It can hail, then be sunny, then snow, and then sunny again, all in 30 minutes,” wrote the talented guard on X.
Mitchell’s weather musing elicited varied reactions from fans.
“Welcome to Ohio! Where we experience five seasons in one day!” said @philosopheruno.
“Cleveland weather really said, ‘Choose a season, and I’ll ignore it.’ At this point, you don’t check the forecast, you just check your survival skills every 30 minutes,” echoed @OnyinyeNwakor.
“That hail in Independence yesterday was nuts,” added @rippingloudfart, referring to the suburb in Cleveland.
“A phrase I coined some time ago: If you don’t like this Ohio weather, just wait a minute,” joked @Boss_Crump.
“Stick around for five minutes. It’ll change,” suggested @DeniseDufala.
Fans are hoping that Mitchell, James Harden, and the rest of the fourth-seeded Cavaliers will get hot against the fifth-seeded Raptors and rain three-pointers on them.
Toronto swept Cleveland in the regular season, 3-0.
